Mutton Korma [si]

The south Indian version of the ever popular Mutton Korma. Goes well with thick tandoori rotis or rice. With me, nearly everything goes well with rice. :) You’ll need:

  • 1kg Mutton
  • 4 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 200gms Onions
  • 50gms Green Chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2×1″ pieces Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 piece Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Grated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Poppy Seeds
  • 4 Cloves
  • 2 – 3 pieces Cardamom
  • 5 Cashewnuts
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seed
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 Large onion
  • 7 – 10 potato wafers
  • 75gms Coconut oil

  1. Grind coriander, onion, green chillies, chili powder, ginger, turmeric, garlic, grated coconut, poppy seeds, cloves and cardamom to a fine paste.
  2.  Mix both oils in a pan and heat
  3. Add thin sliced onion and brown.
  4. Add all other ingredients, except mutton, lemon and chips. Fry.
  5. Add mutton and salt to taste.
  6. When meat is cooked,  pour the juice of one lemon over it.
  7. Sprinkle with  lightly crushed potato  wafers before serving.
