Eating out in this city is expensive. From a food cost perspective, there are margins everywhere and that’s why F&B is the best business to be in! If you’re looking for exclusive cuisines, restaurants and experiences then it’s best your wallet support the cause unless it’s time for Delhicious Week which thankfully spills over to the satellite town of Gurgaon in the form of Dhaba by Claridges and Olive Bistro. A combined effort by Delhi Gourmet Club and Groupon, the Delhicious Week has delivered in the past and this time as well. With coupons starting at INR 1099, the meal includes soup or starter, main course and dessert with a few options in each category. Most participants have played smart and showcased their star dishes (not necessarily the most expensive ones!), but still, the promo makes it easier to sample restaurants you’ve been meaning to try! This year the participation has swelled to 15 bistro and fine dining outlets, covering various cuisines and a couple of five star surprises.

I chose safe and went back to Guppy by ai; twice in the year, half way through the year is not enough for a place like this. Quality sushi, fresh and well made for a better price is a super bargain, so we were thrilled to find their Crab Rolls on the Delhicious Week menu. Perfectly formed, just the perfect size and the super fresh sweetness of crab makes these rolls definite winners at Guppy. There was the option of the Chirashi Salad, which I call a deconstructed sushi sans rice. I say go in groups and order one of everything. There were two options in starters, salads and main course, with equal emphasis on vegetarian dishes, which a group of four ladies beside us were wolfing down with gusto! We pretty much did the same – ordered the two meats on the menu, the fish and the chicken, both of which were soft, juicy and perfectly cooked. It’s fairly easy to get a good piece of fish right but to make a boneless piece of chicken turn out evenly cooked and moist is a feat! We had these with sides of Garlic Rice and Udon Noodles which not only made the meal hearty but complete as well. Dessert was a bit of a let down, not that you have space to fit more food but some of us need a dessert fix for a sense of complete satisfaction! The mini platter had a tiny skewer of grilled fruit, two random pieces of chocolate and a mini square of red velvet cake, but then as they say – “you get what you pay for”!
