The Great Indian Coffee Shootout

The Great Indian Coffee Shootout What started as a casual cuppa is now showing all the signs of becoming an obsession.

Just for the heck of it, I decided to compare coffees. Number one on the list was a Starbucks Columbian Medium blend, the second was the Cafe Coffee Day Dark Forest blend and the third was an un-named, unmarked anonymous packet of Kerala Ground Fresh Coffee.

The method of preparation was the same for all three. Half a cup of hot water with 2 tablespoons of coffee in a french press, soak for 3 minutes and mixing the filtered output with another half cup of hotter water. It was drunk black, without sweetening.

Unfortunately, both Indian coffees didn’t make it to number 1. Yup – the columbian blend came out with top marks for taste, flavor and character. Dark forest came out at #2 and if I had my way, the South Indian coffee would’nt be on the charts, but due to no other available position, it was at #3.

Have you tried biting into a fresh strawberry after a sip of strong, black coffee? If you haven’t, its worth a go!
