There’s no better plan than Plan B Loaded

A place which proclaims “Bacon the new vegetarian” and where there is no dearth of pork and beef on the menu makes me a very happy girl indeed. And it was enough to convince friends to drive all the way from Hebbal last Sunday, so we could meet up at Plan B Loaded in Shanti Nagar. Right across from the Hockey stadium, I have visited a couple times and love the chilled out atmosphere; semi-open, garage-like feel; the music, the kind you get on Classic Rock stations; the fabulous cocktails (some served in mason jars – yay!) and of course, some darn fine burgers and fries that are crisp perfection!

My two favorite cocktails on their menu are: Rude Cosmo and Dirty Mary, and the bartender has been known to whip up a special based on a patron’s preference of alcohol. The range of starters is vast – definitely try the Loaded Fries or the Nachos, which has options in veg, chicken, and delicious pulled pork. Then there’s the Fiery Beef (220), spicy and tangy, which is also available in chicken for the non-red meat eaters. Even though I am eulogizing the red meat here, vegetarians will also find plenty of choice – fear not!

Each time I’ve visited, we’ve loaded up on the starters and then ordered the (irresistible) gigantic burgers topped with caramelized onion slivers and fried egg, and can never, ever finish the burgers – the menu does warn you that these are a “meal by itself!” Speaking of, the menu is this huge wood framed two-sided affair, one featuring drinks and the other, all the food. I also took a bite of the Pulled Pork Burger which has a sweetish BBQ sauce that I liked, but was not such a hit with the person who ordered it. For myself, I can never resist the lure of the blue cheese sauced beef patty burger, but some of the pork sandwiches this time had me reconsidering for the future.

This last visit, we threw caution to the winds and ordered dessert – they had the specials written up on a chalkboard and having spied Caramel Cheesecake we could not leave without a taste. It helped that there were five of us to finish it, and it was quite good – cheesecake as it should be, with the base and consistency right. Plan B Loaded has become one of my happy places – someplace to go and spend a few hours lounging while listening to great music, gorging on artery clogging foods and sipping on my kinda cocktails and chilled beer. Hog Heaven Sunday, ’twas!
