Friday Night with Live @ Aloft W xyz Bar

Natasha visited Aloft’s W xyz bar during the launch night of their live music series, and found good drinks and snacks, and a relaxing way to spend Friday night.

Aloft Hotel, Whitefield recently launched a new concept that is already in full swing in some of its U.S properties: live music over snacks and drinks at the signature W xyz Bar. We checked it out on its first Friday, June 28th, and if you live in and around Whitefield and are looking for something a little different than the usual to do on a Friday night, this will be of interest. Local bands will perform each week; we caught Little Wings on the night we were there. The music was not really the focal point, in that it was mellow and not loud, so one could enjoy the company and conversation of others and still get that live music vibe in the background.

The bar space is quite large, with comfortable seating, so people can form their groups inside, or even just outside, by the lobby, where there is a family den atmosphere, with board games, pool table and more to entertain kids and adults alike. Food and drinks made a systematic appearance, and one could also walk over to the bar to choose one’s poison. The two I recommend highly are the House Special (whiskey, tonic water, O.J and orange slices) and the Fiji Lychee (lychees+alcohol –  need I say more?). I really liked the sushi they served, and the fried calamari was tops too. There were also a handful of other starters that I did not partake of, Indian and veg stuff. We were also treated to a pyrotechnic display at the bar, where zippo fluid and a match lit things up. There will be offers on food and drink during the Live @ Aloft evenings, and there’s no cover charge. For now, you can enjoy buy one get one free drinks and a free appetizer as well!

Aloft, despite being a business hotel, has a cozy, comfy, homely setting. The rooms are well appointed and with all the amenities, and if you happen to stay over, don’t miss breakfast! We made it down on Saturday morning just before the buffet closed, and enjoyed quite the spread. Eggs, bacon, sausages, Indian fare, a range of breads and croissants, cereals, juices, fresh fruit and more, along with smiling and friendly service. My first and only prior trip to Aloft was over a year ago, and it was a pleasure to note that my positive memories of last time hold true still. They have recently begun a BBQ by the pool event on Friday/Saturday nights, which I will be heading back to check out soon.
